Testimonials

The materials provided were very child friendly and age appropriate with constant emphasis on children having adult supervision when near the water. The program was very comprehensive and presented everything in multiple ways such as read a louds, DVDs, coloring books, and storybooks. The teachers reported the the curriculum guides were easy to use and easy to follow. They were able to integrate the water safety curriculum during their literacy blocks quite successfully. Feedback obtained from parents was positive as well.

The Safer 3 Water Safety Curriculum is beneficial to all students byteaching them how to identify risks and dangers in and around the water. The curriculum gives children of all ages the chance to protect themselves and others in the pool, at the beach, and around the house. Many children do not have the opportunity to take swimming lessons where children are taught how to be water safe. The Safer 3 Curriculum gives every child the opportunity to be water safe. There are so many aspects to water safety that many may not be aware of. Children can be educated about water safety without a pool. Knowing how to recognize risks and dangers, and how to prevent them, can help save lives.

On Monday, July 2, 2012 Bobby Hazen and his Water Safety troupe presented the age appropriate Drowning Prevention program to our youngest campers, ages three through eight years old. In two separate shows, Bobby, as MC, engaged the children with the perfect amount of discussion, questions, slide show and short film. Serious content was carefully and appropriately presented to each audience. The children squealed with delight when each of the three characters danced and interacted with the kids and staff. All of the children positively responded to Sammy the Starfish during the “Safer Water” section, Timmy the Tadpole during “Safer Kids” and Gilbert the Guppy during the “Safer Response” segment. Each child was happy to receive a “goodie bag” of water safety related products.

Rolling River Day Camp would highly recommend this extremely important educational/entertaining/professional presentation to any pre-school through 2nd grade youth program. Living on Long Island, where we are surrounded by waterways, as well as an abundant number of private swimming pools, the message that this show conveys to young children at their level is of utmost importance! It certainly should be a number one priority to aid in the prevention of drowning on Long Island and surrounding areas. Presenting it to adults and parents would be beneficial as well. It is my pleasure and honor to write this recommendation or verbally refer Bobby Hazen and his program.
